Your first step is to find a domain name. A you search for the right one, keep a few things in mind:

1. The name should relate to the type of site you intend to build. If your site will promote college affiliate programs, for instance, you might choose something like Great-Colleges.com.
2. The shorter the better. Long domain names are hard to remember and difficult to type correctly.
3. Try to get a .com or .net extension, ideally.
