  1. Tim,

Amazon.com has been one of the most search-marketer friendly affiliate programs out there, and one of the last large programs to still allow the practice, but their sign-up process is not as search marketer friendly as their policies are.

You will need a website of your own to sign up for the Amazon affiliate program, even though you won’t need to use it to place ads for them.

If you want a quick, easy and inexpensive solution to starting a simple website for this purpose, I highly recommend Blue Host, as their service is fantastic and they have a great deal right now; Easy Web Hosting $6.95

You can also get free website templates at http://www.AffiliateMillions.com.

    Good Luck,

    Tony

  2. Hi Tony.

Thanks for your answer. I have now joined Amazon’s Associates Central Program. In their terms for use they saw that I can’t use the name “Amazon” or any vireation of this. How is it possible in the search engine marketing not to use their URL when create an ad?
Hope you can help me. I am about to make my first ad on google as a affiliate on Amazon, but i’m stucked with this question.

    Best regards.

  3. Tim,

The wording is confusing, but I have contacted Amazon in the past to ask them about this specifically and was advised that the trademark prohibitions refers to keyword bidding, not ad text, so go ahead and use Amazon’s URL.

You can try to use Amazon in the rest of the ad text as well, but Google may object. Their rules these days frankly change to quickly for me to keep up with, so I can’t say if they will hassle you or not, but you shouldn’t have any trouble with the URL, at least, and Amazon, to the best of my knowledge, is completely Okay with you using their name for anything except keywords, and of course, advertising sites other than their own (including sites you may own to promote them, by the way).
