First campaign 365 clicks, cj all 000s

Hope someone can help.  Maybe this is typical but I’m a newbie and something doesn’t seem right.  Posted my first ad yesterday on AdWords.  Ran it a few hours for two days just to see what happens.

Adwords reports:  clicks     impr.

                           365    36,581

CJ Manager shows all zeros.  Is there a delay for data reporting on CJ with new accounts? (opened yesterday) Is this common?  Does CJ only report sales? CJ reports show clicks and impr. columns on their tables, so I assumed they would have the same numbers as Google.

thanks for your help

I have an update:  Today cj report showed 213 clicks.  This is 72 hours after the campaign began.  If there were any sales would they be reported by now?  This delay makes it hard to determine if I should continue the campaign or not.  As for now I’m still on pause.

thanks

  1. Brian,

Check to see if the affiliate program you are a part of uses Batch Processing (you can find this information on the Affiliate Program Details page).

If they are using batch programing that means that the tracking is not real time, which in turn means you can expect delays in reporting clicks and conversions. With some programs, the delay is short, and batches run regularly. with other, the delays can be longer, and sometimes irregular.

It can be very frustrating in the beginning, to have to wait (sometimes for quite a while) to see the results of your campaign. ANd it further slows things down when you cautiously (and prudently, by the way) shut off the campaign to await those results.

In the long term though, once a campaign proves itself to be profitable you don’t need the instant reassurance of real time reporting. So keep doing what you are doing, and test and evaluate the program slowly.

    Tony
