The Frustration of Advertisers not Converting Sales

April 15, 2008 on 5:03 pm | In Questions and Comments | 1 Comment

Sorry to say, I’m still not in the black on this endeavor and one of my current frustrations is that from my point of view, my chosen advertisers (and these are not fly by night companies) are simply not converting the sale.

I’ve been directing traffic to my web site and I’ve been tracking on CJ, which ads (I use banners, which seem to be reasonably effective) get clicked on. Despite multiple clicks per day, these vendors don’t seem to offer a good enough value proposition to close the darn sale.

What’s got me a bit steamed is I can only do so much. Once I deliver my customer to the advertisers’ web site, it’s up to them to close the deal and they just don’t seem to be doing it.

Is anyone else encountering this frustration? Is it simply a product of the economy we’re in?

  1. Matty,

It is frustrating when the conversions aren’t up where we need them to be, but I guarantee that the sites you are doing their level best to make the sale – for your sake and theirs.

Check the EPC on the banners you are using. Is your EPC on the same banners higher or lower than the average?

If it is lower, you have to consider that the quality of the traffic you are sending may not be as high as you think. Some web sites do a very good job of only sending customers to a site when they are ready to buy. They either compare prices from many different sites so the customer feels they are getting the best price, or sometimes they compare products before directing customers to a site so that the customer arrives at the site with a high level of confidence he has already determined the product and brand he wants.

If your EPC is as good or higher than the average, you may need to work on the cost side of your web site. Improve sponsored ads to get costs down and optimize your web page to get higher up in the free search results. If you need help optimizing your web page, the book I used when I designed AffiliateMillions.com was InsiderĀ  Insider Seo & Ppc: Get Your Website to the Top of the Search Engines.

That right there is an example of the kind of thing you can do to send highly targeted traffic to a site. State the case for a product you believe in, offer them the opportunity to follow a link to a site where they can get it, and I guarantee you a much higher percentage of clicks will result in sales.

    Good luck,

    Tony
