Lack of Sales
February 13, 2008 on 9:28 pm | In Questions and Comments | 3 CommentsHi Tony,
I presently use your book as my resource on how to be successful in Adwords but I’ve been doing this for 2 months, have spent around $500.00 and have sold around $60.00 of product. I presently have a campaign using Amazon for digital cameras. I have gotten 37 clicks today but with no sales. Ugh! I guess I need a pep talk and a little advice. Can you point me in the right direction?
Fred

Fred,
With a program like Amazon, you have to get into the higher performance tiers to be competitve. You won’t sell enough big ticket items to get to the top performance tier for a long time. The trick in the begining is to try to sell high volume items, like books, music or (around Christmas) toys. You can move a lot of these, and even though you might not make a lot, the volume can get you into those higher performance tiers, and this can almost double your returns, making you much more competitive with all the products.
All that being said, if that $500 was all spent on Amazon, you need some serious ad re-tooling. If it was spent on other programs, your ads might not be to blame – some programs just aren’t profitable for search marketers, and you should always be prepared to walk away at some point if the returns just aren’t there – but if that $60 return on a $500 investment was for Amazon – which can definitly be profitable, you need to focus more on ad text. It doesn’t always sink in when I tell people this, but ad text is THE big difference between success and failure in this business.

I’m like Fred. I have no problem getting clicks. If I understand Tony, there is a way to tweak your ad so it attracts buyers, not just people clicking out of curiosity. I had no success at this. My ads got a good response as far as cost per click and placement, but few sales. If Tony has any tips, I hope he can share them.

If anyone ever wants some more specific advice on a given campaign, feel free to email your ad text to me at AffiliateSupport@AffiliateMillions.com and I’ll give you my honest opinion about what is good about the ad, and what might improve it – and why.
