Please Lord send me a listing of essential tools.
November 5, 2007 on 11:23 pm | In Questions and Comments | 1 CommentHi Tony,
Thanks so much for a very fine book, it inspires me, even after devouring ‘The Definative guide to Google Adwords’ and ‘Google Cash’ over the coarse of the last two years, I still havn’t managed to get trading, but it’s imminent!
Your original angle on the story has motivated me to do good and I thank you for that. However, I need your advice on realistic tools for this business. You’ve been around the block a few times and know that there are shark infested waters on this matter, everybody and their Auntie has a tool that is essential to success!
Can you please give me your opinion on tools that achieve results in direct PPC search engine marketing. I believe that without an informed input on this subject I shall be like a caveman fighting a Kalashnekov.
I see tools like ‘Spyfu’ and ‘Below The Radar’ etc, which I think are ‘would like to look at’ items but at what $?,… what if they don’t do it?
This subject is a big on me acheiving a life, other than that it is not that important.
In a nutshell, can you please tell me what a boy should have in his arsenal before he goes to war?
Thanking you in anticipation, kind regards,
Mick

Mick,
I don’t have anything bad to say about any of the tools out there, free or subscription, but I didn’t use any tools besides Google’s free keyword tools, and they were quite sufficient.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t get any benefit from these tools, but I think the benefits are marginal and I want to stress that you can succeed without them.
That said, KeyCompete.com provides excellent keyword info, including stats on what keywords are driving traffic to specific websites. For the most part, the high volume keywords for any given site aren’t hard to figure out on your own, usually, but this tool can definitely save you time you can then spend elsewhere, as well as assure you that your keyword list is not missing some important keywords.
