Posting Limited offers ad

July 24, 2007 on 6:38 am | In Questions and Comments | 1 Comment

Hi Tony,

I have just had my first few commissions and though its not much, its a good start. yay! I would like to know if we can put some sort of limited offer in the ad text, like, “Buy before xxx date!” even though there are no special promotions from that vendor.

Regards,

Shazli

  1. I am frankly not certain what the affiliate program, search network, or customer response might be to this strategy. This strategy has never occurred to me before, and so I have never tested it. It strikes me as at least slightly misleading, but not necessarily unethical in the strictest sense. Whether or not it is unethical, I beleive Google would probalby allow the call to action to buy before a particular date, as long as you do not outright lie about a particular consequence that does not exist. If the affiliate program gives you wide leeway to write your own ads, they probably would not nix your ad either, unless they received customer complaints.

I’m not sure applying that kind of pressure would work in this medium, but who knows??

    Tony
