Why Do I Need A Website
July 23, 2007 on 9:55 pm | In Questions and Comments | 1 CommentHey Toney,
I tried to become an affiliate of Overstock.com but my application was rejected. The reason was because the only website I could put in the blank was the ultimate wealth website which I paid for before I knew any better, which does not allow you to do very much to it. I tried Commission Junction but I didn’t even try to put that website in that blank. So it appears I may have to get a real website. I don’t really want to because I have no idea what the website will be about. I do not understand why I just can’t use paid search in Google or Yahoo. Just thought I would pass this on to other newbies who do not have a real website yet, and the problems they may encounter when applying to become an affiliate.

Loner53,
You don’t need a website – at least not for many affiliate networks and programs – but you do need to know how to work with applications that are not “search marketer” friendly.
I recommend typing in the URL of a search engine, such as Google, in the website URL field, and then using the website description field to explain that although I am obviously not the owner of Google.com, this is the site (and possibly other search engines) where I intend to run my ads linking directly to the affiliate programs I promote.
Perhaps not all networks will allow you to join this way, but I have done so with great success to almost all of them. For those that do not allow this, you can always start a web site of your own. I have a number of resources on my site http://www.AffiliateMillions.com that can help you get started, and I even offer free website templates which you can place your own ads into with very little effort.
