Affiliate Fuel Code For AdWord Link

July 22, 2007 on 3:47 am | In Questions and Comments | 3 Comments

Great book thanks so much again. Rookie question, I’ve been accepted to Affiliate Fuel.  All programs I see give me banner and text links.  When I am constructing my ad on Google what do I cut and paste? Your example for Amazon in the book is perfect.  Please a little help, I’ve left a message for AF but no response.  I sure can’t seem to find the proper steps from the book. Thanks!

  1. JR,

    The destintion link portion of the code they give you is the first thing you want to copy. You can find it right after href= in the code. You basically want to copy everything between the first and second quotation mark after href=.   I have an portion of code for example (not real code) below in which I have highlighted the part you will copy.  Let me know if this makes it clear

    …..a href=”http://aftrk.com/c/c?b=5224452&h=18090&sh=31646185&bt=300×250
    target=_top……

    Next, you will want to carefully duplicate the text of the ad for your Google ad.  Remember to make sure they allow PPC advertising, and be certain if you are altering the ad in any way to ask permssion first from AffiliateFuel. This includes even small punctuation changes that you may be forced to make to get the ad to work in Google’s format. I have had good luck with getting approval for small (and even sometimes big) changes, but you have to be very clear about why a change is necessary or desirable, and in the end it will be up to the individual client.

    If you have trouble getting an answer from Affiliate Fuel on a question like that, let me know, and I will try to get my contact there to respond to your question.

  2. Tony,

    Have studied your book for a month and learned much. I am very unskilled in writing links, html, etc. Problem I am encountering: posted quite a few ads 3 weeks ago and began watching them as suggested. They appear to be performing well on google adwords and some have CTR’s as high as 11%. When I went to Commmission Junction to see how many of the CTR’s are generating actual commissions, all of their stats show zero’s! After a few days of watching, I paused the ads and started trying to figure out why the stats in Goggle were running, but no reports in CJ. After getting a 1/2 day of run around I was told by CJ that I cannot use a ‘direct link’ in my destination url, but only indirect url’s. They would not help further or exlain what that means because they do not provide ‘technical support’.

    I have been using the advertiser’s website in the display url. IE: http://www.zecco.com and then in the destination url I am setting it up as follows:

    http://www.zecco.com/detailed-landing-page-url/commission-junction-tracking-code as per the advertisers html on their detail page

    I think this is building the link from general website/detail page (like where they sign up for the newsletter, etc)/tracking code. CJ says that I cannot use a direct link and that’s why the ad is not tracking. Can you explain this?

    Also, I paid out about $50 in clicks before finding this out and think I probably generated some commissions, is there any way to get back credit once I get my destination URL corrected? I do not want to operate my own website.

    Oh, and since I have to change the destination url – will that start my performance stats all over again?

    Thanks so much for helping me. The book was great, but since I am not a computer techy I really am struggling with how to get the ads tracked correctly. If there is a place I should go to learn more about this, I will.

  3. Dee Ann,

    I think your destination link is the problem. Maybe you should email the actual destination link you are using to AffiliateSupport@AffiliateMillions.com so I can take a look at it. I think I should be able to help once I see exactly what you’ve got.
